COPY CLUB FRANCHISER ANNOUNCES AGGRESSIVE
EXPANSION PLANS

SAN DIEGO - (January 18, 2000) San Diego-based Copy Club West, Inc. the franchiser of Copy Club business copying and digital imaging centers, has announced aggressive expansion plans for 2000.

"Our plans are to license 12 to 18 new Copy Club franchises within California, Arizona and Nevada in the coming year," said Harish Babla, president and CEO of Copy Club West, Inc.

Copy Club West, has four licensed franchises currently within California: two in San Diego, one in San Jose and one in Moutainview, and has agreements in process for two more in California.

Copy Club was ranked 34 of 50 on Entrepreneur Magazine's list of the top franchises for 1999

Harish purchased the licensing rights to sell Copy Club franchises in the western U.S. from the International Center for Entrepreneurial Development (ICED), who has long been the parent company to five franchised groups of quick printers.

"We've begun an aggressive marketing plan to potential franchisees, and to businesses and others who use our services, to increase awareness of the Copy Club name and the benefits of ownership," said Babla.

Part of the marketing plan includes strategic partnerships with San Diego-based FranNet U.S.A., Inc. and similar business broker groups, targeted Internet links and business opportunity seminars supported by a variety of media. Babla has had plenty of success in the franchise business. In 1982, he purchased his first business card manufacturing franchise from ICED. From 1989 through 1995 his franchise gained the distinction of being the top- producing franchise unit world wide of all of ICED's franchise groups, more than 1,000 stores at the time.

FTC - CONSUMER ALERT

Need Money for College? Doesn't everybody?

Unfortunately, in their efforts to pay the hills, many students and their families are falling prey to scholarship scams. The FTC cautions students to look for tell tale lines:

  • "The scholarship is guaranteed or your money back"
  • "You can't get this information anywhere else."
  • "I just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship."
  • "We'll do all the work"
  • "The scholarship will cost some money."
  • "You've been selected" by a 'national foundation' to receive a scholarship or "You're a finalist" in a contest you never entered.
